Ama sat at her kitchen table, worry etched on her face. News had been circulating about the fundamental human rights of citizens of her country, Ghana, but the legalese of the Bill of Rights was like a locked door, keeping her from understanding. Frustration gnawed at her. How could she protect herself if she couldn’t even grasp what rights she had?

Across many countries in Africa, countless citizens faced the same obstacle. The Bill of Rights, a cornerstone of their democracy, remained shrouded in complex legalese, inaccessible to a large portion of the population due to language barriers. This was where Bolingo Consult, a language solutions company with a deep understanding of Africa, stepped in.

The Center for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria knew the importance of empowering African populations with knowledge of their fundamental rights. They approached Bolingo Consult with a critical mission: translate a comprehensive guide explaining the Ghana Bill of Rights into Twi, one of the most widely spoken languages in the country.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Bolingo Consult assembled a dream team. Experienced Twi translators, familiar with the nuances of the language and Ghanaian culture and with several years of experience working with Bolingo Consult on similar projects, were chosen. Legal terminology can be a labyrinth, so Bolingo Consult built a comprehensive glossary – a key that unlocked consistent and accurate translations throughout the document.

The project underwent a rigorous review process. Bolingo Consult’s team and the Center for Human Rights meticulously examined the translation for accuracy, clarity, and cultural appropriateness. This ensured the final document resonated with the Ghanaian audience, not just with legal jargon.

The result? A transformation. Ama, like countless others, could finally grasp the Bill of Rights in her native language. The once-inaccessible information became a powerful tool, empowering her to understand her rights and protections.

This Ghanaian project is just one example of Bolingo Consult’s dedication to Africa. The company boasts of a deep understanding of the continent’s diverse linguistic landscape. From Wolof to Zulu, Amharic to Swahili, their team of experts can navigate the complexities of African languages while ensuring cultural sensitivity.

Bolingo Consult’s mission goes beyond delivering translations. They are driven by a passion to empower Africans through the power of their native language. The company believes that information, presented clearly and understandably, is the key to building a more informed and empowered citizenry. By breaking down language barriers, Bolingo Consult is playing a vital role in strengthening African democracies, one translation at a time.
